New Closing Wheel Arm Bushings

The Problem:
In many environments, especially when drills or air-seeders are stored outside, the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) closing wheel arm bushing kits can corrode and cause the arm to lock up, as illustrated in the image to the left.

Once the OEM bushings begin to wear, as illustrated in the image left, they allow the closing wheel to wander to the right and left of the seed slot. This is not good when your expecting consistent closure.

The Solution:
We now offer heat treated stainless steel bushings, which offer similar hardness to the OEM bushings. They begin as high tensile stainless steel and we have them machined to tight tolerances. They are then heat treated for maximum hardness. Field testing has confirmed these bushings offer OEM durability standards, plus they eliminate the corrosion issues outlined above.

The bushings are sold as a set of 3, one long bushing and 2 short bushings for each closing wheel arm.

These bushings will install within closing wheel arms of all 60 and 90 series openers, in addition of all 50 series openers after serial number 6000. The narrow bushing detailed below (sub for OEM part number N219547) will also fit the press wheel arm of the 60 and 90 series openers (2 required per row).

Bushing Information.
Large bushing: OEM part number N280648 (3.4” wide, 1” OD, 0.640” ID) Narrow bushing: OEM part number N219547 (0.69” wide, 1.37” OD, 1.01” ID)

Useful Installation Tip.
A 1” x 5” long, grade 8 bolt, with the head ground down to less than 1.37” (as illustrated within the image to the left), makes an excellent bushing installation tool. You can align and hammer the bushing in place without damage.
